New freq for Springfield trs

854.0875 has been added to the Springfield trs. Other freq's are (and have been for some time), 856.4875, 857.4875, 858.4875, 859.4875 and 860.4875. Also, 856.9875 through 860.9875. Don't know if this is simply an additional freq. to cover the many users of this type 2 analog system, or if this has to do with re-banding.

According to the license WPES905 it was added 6-26-2007. I couldn't find it explicitly but I suspect you are correct in the rebanding issue.

All of the radios were reprogrammed a couple of weeks ago. They told us it was for rebanding.

Is there any more frequencies that will be added/changed? Just curious. Also, with Peoria going to open sky in the future, is there any chance that Springfield will be going that direction? Hopefully not.

My guess would be that they will be going to StarCom. They (the county) and Macon county recently received a good sized grant to make this transfer.

Makes sense. Kind of what I figured. Since springfield city is already on a motorola system. Sangamon county has recently experienced problems on their vhf freq. I heard radio techs last week trying to pinpoint the problem.
