Transmit level on dispatch 859.5625 Mhz seems to have dropped as of this morning. Can anyone confirm? I checked my equipment and it appears OK.

no issues here on my base. But I am using an external 800 MHz base antenna fed with Andrew Heliax for a feedline. However, on the portable, it does appear that the signal level has dropped.

The signal level has appeared to drop a little bit more compared to yesterday.

I tried a completely different signal chain yesterday and it was still low. Tx on the Fire Ground frequency sounded normal.
This morning it (Dispatch freq) seems to be back to normal from my location.

I have rechecked signal levels again...despite the stormy weather and high wind gusts, levels have come up. I did measure noise floor levels before and after with my spectrum analyzer, and those levels haven't changed...acceptable before and after the signal degradation. About -124dBm. Main signal levels measured now are around -66dBm. During the signal issues, I measured -88dBm.

I saw a similar reduction in levels. Dispatch seemed to be relaying between units and requesting many radio checks yesterday.
Seems the degraded levels were between ~ 08:00-22:00 yesterday. Glad it appears to be resolved.

Fire ground repeater ( at 854) has worked better than the 859 freq. My observation is that using the normal input frequency affects portable unit communication,. New Haven had a chance a long time ago to have a first class 800 MHz trunking system with 3 sites... East Rock, West Rock, and K of C building, but blew it. PD, FD, Public Works, would have portable coverage city and beyond that wide. And that means in building portable coverage. But as it stands, well, I am surprised the unions of the respective departments have not complained.

But also knowing the liberal management which has affected area VFD, i am not surprised. No wonder why there is a lack of volunteers.
