New HFDL version 49 table

Thanks to the UDXF, I was alerted that there's a new Version 49 table of sites and freqs. It's too long to post here, so there's a text file attached.

Intereisting that it shows site 11 as Annapolis - a site that went dark a couple of years ago - well now it seems like it's back, although there's still some debate about this...

I will update our HFDL article in the wiki in due course (unless someone beats me to it...)

As I thought - this is based off an old table. Site 11 should be Panama, not Annapolis, again per UDXF

Using the "new" table I was able to hear Annapolis Maryland on 10063 kHz. It is definitely back on the air.

Table 49 (old thread resurrected here) was updated to System Table 50 a year ago.

HFDL System Table 50 in effect
San Francisco and some other HFDL ground stations have been using System Table 50 as of this morning (local time). This replaces Table 49, which had been used for quite a long time.

I can't put my finger on this, but I'm pretty sure Table 49 is still in effect at most stations. As I understand it there was some initial confusion as to whether Table 50 would be rolled out to all sites, but AFAIK, that hasn't happened as yet. At least the file on the UDXF website still reflects Table 49 sites and frequencies. Perhaps the two aren't all that dissimilar - just a site name or two likely changed. I'm too close to Annapolis to even begin to see whether that station is still on the air, but I highly doubt it. As I understand it, the Annapolis site was supposed to be a test station and is not on the regular sked for either table entry. Station 11 is still Panama, I think - but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately there is software out there, like Sorcerer, that is (at least the last I've been told) using a very old system table, hard coded in their software, that, while the software does decode HFDL, the sites it reports are outdated which can mislead the uninformed. There have been whispers about a Sorcerer version that does include Table 49 but where to get it (or how to fix the system table in Sorcerer itself) remains a mystery.

There are several other packages that cover HFDL, but AFAIK, the .dat file that's floating around that has the Table 49 data for site decoding is only usable in the registered version of PC-HFDL.

Apart from the multi-kilobuck packages like Krypto, Wavecom and others, the other apps (besides Sorcerer) that can do it include MultiPSK and Sigmira. I don't believe either of these packages can incorporate the .dat file, but they will decode the signal. The site in my sig line has the links for both of these if you're interested

The only way to be sure which table a site is using is to wait for the full table schedule to be sent - and that happens rather irregularly, so it makes it harder to pin down

It depends on where you are and what ground stations you follow. The North American stations are using Table 50 and the rest of the world is using 49. There are a few exceptions just to confuse the issue.

I dug this up with a little searching - the link came from the HF Underground website, and it describes in some detail how to update Sorcerer to use the current system table (which you can get, I think, from the PC HFDL Yahoo group, and it seems you need the text version). I don't use that software so I can't speak for how well it works...caveat emptor
