• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We have many TC 610 portable's in our analog rental fleet. Some close to 7 years old and still look new and work great. Always liked there product. Good fit in the price range they sell in.

I was always a Harris n Motorola guy. Ended up dropping the motorola line and selling off all the astro spectras, xpr4550/6550/7550/5550 (kept 1 apx tho) and went over to hytera in 2015 for their DMR radios. So much more they can do over the big M. Have a bunch of Harris HDM/HDP momentum radios iv converted over to hytera software and work just dandy.

Have a few of these new radios as demos and soooo far so good for the couple days of testing so far. Down side is they went back to the older looking version of the CPS, the version previous to the "gold" icon one. Just cant read any other radios then new ones with it and cant convert a codeplug from a PD982 so that sorta sucks but meh

Have some HP7XX and HP6xx demos coming. Cant wait to test them on our XPT and DMR systems.

Youll like them. Least i do SO far over the previous radios. We are still waiting for hytera to release the IP Transit feature to play around with that.

Did notice you can do more then 16 channels in a scan list. So thats a nice option too

Hi, can anyone who has had their hands on these advise me on one thing? I understand that the programming cable for these is different to the one for the X1P / PD600 series but can the X1P/PD600 series cable be used to program the new ones? Physically the difference seems to be no CPS/firmware switch.

I know they use the same interface, headsets etc interchange, so it stands to reason that they would. . . unless. . .

The only reason I can see they wouldnt work, is if Hytera cheaped out and omitted the serial chip from the new series radios (meaning that the chip is now required in the cable). I know the X1p/PD600 has the chip in the radio.

Usefully in the UK the radios are starting to become available but the cable is completely unavailable!

I did get the HP685, I do like it but its not without faults. Annoying that when I receive a digital call, the display wipes over the menu bar, so I can't see the signal strength. Suspect they will fix this. Seems to be a 685 thing, the 785 having a taller display has the menu poke out the top of the notification!

Bluetooth programming works (but its like the PD9xx and needs the awful bluesolei software and an external USB dongle, which in turn breaks the internal bluetooth driver)

Has a nice feel and is light. Similar weight to an X1P with standard battery but the X1P is still a lot thinner. HP feels nicer than the sharp edged X1P and has a better PTT.

New charger seems to basically be the same as the PD7/9 series one and the PD9 battery charges fine in the HP charger.

Nice to have time display as per PD9 (not on X1P that also has GPS)

Ability to unmute squelch is back (lost in V9 firmware)

Like the new menu structure and the quick setting menu is awesome

The initial CPS had a bug and would not allow setting of button SK3 function but this was fixed in 2.0.01.006

Compared to the PD series the Manual Dial function has been lost from the menu which is a shame. You can still manual dial from the keypad, but if you are using one-touch-dial then you have to change the keypad function first. In the PDs you just went into contacts and manual dial.

Reception doesnt seem much better than the X1P (and the titanium whip antenna, which is much better than the stock X1P helical)

Audio seems good.

I also noticed the fast CPS write (but the HP CPS can be very slow at some things)

From the launch presentation I understood that HP3xx are coming (but I may have misunderstood and they were talking about the BD), I will be interested to see the HP3xx if they do those.

The IP transit also sounds interesting but don't have an immediate use for it! I do wonder if and when they will release duplex HPs, will we see full duplex variants of the HM7xx, will there be a HP9xx?

I have debated whether I will sell the X1P but the X1P is still the smallest, lightest (with the thin battery) and it can do 5-tone (which the HP can't) so while the HP may take over as my main portable, I don't see me getting rid of the X1P.
