Brick is usually a busy town. Are you looking for Brick Police? Do you have it programmed correctly? 453.050, should be brick PD's main dispatch channel. There are plenty of surrounding areas that you can monitor also, here is a link to the ocean county database section of this site...

Just remember that point pleasant beach, lakewood, and toms river are digital, so unless you have a digital scanner you will NOT be able to monitor them. Even if you do have a digital scanner you will still not be able to monitor toms river as they are currently running full encryption. Lakewood is in the clear.

Moved to the NJ forum. It is only dead because people keep posting in the wrong place.

The reason "some are showing 2 frequencies", example 453.05000 and 458.0000 is because those are repeater channels. Repeater systems use 2 frequencies, an input frequency and an output frequency. Simplex systems only use 1 frequency. Here's a link that explains this:

http://www.police-scanner.info/scanning/conventional-radio-systems.htm

Scroll up and see "Conventional Simplex Radio Systems" and "Conventional Duplex Radio Systems".

BTW, when programming your scanner, you only need to program the output frequency, which is listed in the first column on the database, to hear everything. Example: 453.050 - 458.050 - only program 453.050. You need not program the INPUT frequency.

Hope this helps you.

Delete the 458.XXXX and 465.XXXX freqs you have programed into any memories as they are repeater inputs and are not needed in these cases. Also - the scanner you have is not a higher end model. When Brick eventually goes digital(probably sooner than later) you will need a digital scanner but if they encrypt their transmissions (as a lot of local agencies are starting to) then you will be SOL like the rest of us as there is nothing that will receive them.
There are no absolutes in scanning so like a lot of other things its a crap shoot.
Good luck....
