• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

New LRPD Chief of Police

According to the local news, Little Rock has hired a new Chief of Police. Although I admit that it isn't likely, perhaps if enough citizens write the new Chief of Police for LRPD and politely present reasons for why the main dispatch channels for LRPD should be unencrypted, he may do so. My suggestions...

1) increased transparency between the LRPD and the community
2) increased likelihood that citizens can provide tips to the LRPD to report real-time criminal activity in the community
3) increased public confidence in the daily activities of the LRPD

I think that it's worth spending five minutes to write a letter and using a fifty cent stamp.
