Good evening, everyone!

While doing routine searches of the 850/860 bands last night, I believe I've run across a new P25 trunking system as follows:

Freq: 859.787500

My 396XT shows it as System ID 47c with a Site ID of 124.

Currently, the only TGID I am hearing is 201 and it sounds a lot like Sarpy County traffic.

Has anyone else caught this?

I will start listening. Sarpy County is joining ORION, announced officially. Time to start logging.

Oh, and this is P25 Phase II (2) - There are more frequencies but Unitrunker hasn't seen it in the short half hour that I've been listening. Listed in the FCC database is: 855.13750 855.38750 855.71250 856.23750 856.83750 857.23750 857.98750

New talkgroups and confirmed talkgroups are here (and some hidden/unknown/future talkgroups showed up):

One thing to note about all of these talkgroups is that for each talkgroup on the new system, the group is ALSO on the old Sarpy County Public Safety system on a different talkgroup number but is the same group airing at the same time.

TG 201 (DEC) is either a Bellevue/Papillion Fire talkgroup. I forgot which ID it comes across on the old system, I saved it on my scanner but right now it is charging and I don't want to interrupt my SDR on the new system/spin up a new SDR for the old system.

TG 3 (DEC) is LE East. On the old system, it is TG 48 (DEC) but TG 003 (HEX). Interesting.

TG 7 (DEC) popped on my list of affiliated groups, but nobody keyed up. The radio affiliated to TG 7 (DEC) then switched to TG 3 (DEC) so my only guess is that is either INFO talkgroup or LE West. I would guess LE West since, in the old system, LE West is TG 112 (DEC) but 007 (HEX) which matches what LE East is doing. We'll have to wait for them to transition on that channel.

Here is a list of groups Unitrunker has seen. I labeled ID 3 - LE East myself. Ignore 65536 as that isn't a talkgroup but shows up on the Control Channel consistently. Possibly a bug.

Here are the observed radio IDs since I started Unitrunker. Of course, there are more but they will need to key up, power on, power off, or switch groups to be seen. Usually, after leaving monitoring running for about 7 days, the list will get pretty accurate as many radios will power cycle at some point in a weeks time. Obviously monitoring only radios will go unnoticed until something happens to them.

I still haven't seen all of the channels active yet (missing 4 frequencies that I've identified above). I'm guessing as more users enter the new system more voice channels will appear.

That makes sense and AFTER I drafter that last monster reply, guess who made it to the party. Talkgroup 7. TG 7 (DEC) is now confirmed as LE West. The cutover seemed to be just a patch. My guess is all of these units MIGHT be on the old system still and being patched to the new system as I didn't see any new radios affiliate to the system but they are now showing up on the system (unless the radios affiliated before 1 AM and have been left turned on this entire time).

Also TG 201 (DEC) is TG 3216 (DEC) on old system, Fire Dispatch East. I also forgot to specify that the RFSS and Site above were decimal. Threw me off when I was trying to program it at 1am in DEC when it wanted HEX.

Are there any neighbor sites listed under the Peers tab in Unitruker? Everything you have displayed so far shows this as a standalone system which is a little surprising considering rumors of them joining ORION.

No peers, unfortunately. Not even enough for a screenshot, just a black screen. I know they officially announced joining ORION's core so I don't know if that means they are on ORION or using their core means something else. I was let down when I saw the system ID was different and things weren't matching up.

What is also weird is that there aren't any offline users which means to me nobody is actually on the system itself (except maybe the dispatchers). I know on some units on the LE channels, I hear static and they still say to move over to "channel 2" and then nothing shows up on the new system. I'm guessing all of this is just a test run? I'm going to be let down if things go quiet for a while as I hate the old system where I'm at (and most places around me). Too much static.

Are the talkgroups Phase 1 or Phase 2? Since George posted that he heard Talkgroup 201 on his 396XT and the frequencies are only shown once in Unitrunker screenshot, I'm assuming Phase 1. Keep up the great info!

I will need to double check. I'm guessing P1 but I believe the system is P2. My main scanner is messed up and the knob needs to be repaired (SDS100). I'm not sure if my two BCD436HP's will have enough information to tell or if I'll need to try a different method. I agree, they must be P1 TGs if he can scan them.

So, I'm not sure what's going on but LE East and LE West haven't appeared for a while and they are active on the old system. I'm guessing they are still testing things. Oh well, it was nice for a bit, even though TG: 201 (DEC) was active not too long ago. My computer rebooted about an hour or two ago and I lost anything that happened in between. I did find new talkgroups that appeared once.

So, after analyzing trends, LE East and LE West are cut off at night (possibly someone going home?). LE East last stopped at 7:40 PM on 04/11/2019 (expecting it to pick back up in the morning at some point) and LE West stops earlier at 4:03 PM on 04/11/2019. Here is also a list of other found talkgroups. Using the Hits column, we can see a lot of what I would assume to be tests. I wasn't there to monitor what the single transmission was. Lots of other heavy hitters though.

hi we get the 65536 TG this is a tower status back to the controller on our WY State trunking system
( i have been told i do not know what i am talking about, that it is what it is)

quote:Ignore 65536 as that isn't a talkgroup but shows up on the Control Channel consistently. Possibly a bug.

TG 65536 probably is a 'blank' channel. They program it into the radio so it stays on system instead of the user getting an unprogrammed channel and the radio unaffiliating from the system. At least that's what Omaha did.

The weird thing is it is constantly active (appears like it is keyed up) on the system, reserving one of the system's channels, no user radio ID shown.
