New remote control software on Whistler site for TRX-1 and 2 and other scanners

I downloaded it but the issue I'm having is that it has a drop down menu for COM ports on the computer. When I'm connected via USB cable, my computer only sees it as a drive letter F:/.......
How do I tell it it's on a COM port? Assign it to a COM port number?

with the scanner plugged in - go to your device manager and under the PORTS it will show the scanner and the port its on.

You need to install the radio as a serial device using the drivers.

Also, if it is showing up as a drive, it is likely because you have the scanner in the off mode. If you will turn it on, it will switch to using a COM port and you just have to keep trying until you find the right one. Or, if you know how you can find the com port used in the device manager of windows.

I had it in the off mode.

Alright. This is cool.... I programmed into one of my State Police frequencies to flash the Red and Blue LED like the manual suggests and when this remote software is ran and the State Police frequency becomes active, the Long black rectangle area in the upper left area flashes red and blue! Very cool whoever designed the software. It's the little things in life. LoL

Cool that should work nicely, the State Police use Blue only here, and County uses Red & Blue

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but it came up in my search to solve a problem today - I was playing around with the TRX-1 control software and I cannot get it to work. TRX shows up as F drive. Look in properties and all and it shows Com Port 4...when I look in Device Manager there are TWO Comport 4s listed. When I try to connect to Comport 4 in the remote control software I get the error 'Unable to open Com Port 4! Make sure your scanner is connected to the computer...' It is reading as F Drive. I have tried unmounting it in on and off mode, nada. I uninstalled and removed scanner and then reinstalled it, nada. I had this working before, but now I have several instances of ProScan with a few scanners. Any suggestions? Any help greatly appreciated - thanks!

Have you tried rebooting the computer while the scanner is left plugged in and powered on? My PC's have issues with Whistlers unless you boot into the already powered on scanner.

Anderegg, just did that and it worked. But now SDS100 will not respond to ProScan, I am playing whack- a- mole here with available ports. I'll get it after enough reboots. I just wanted to see if WIN10 would handle all of my scanners on virtual control at the same time. Not yet.

Chronic - no, audio plays thru the front speaker of the scanner

Thanks guys

Quick question, I have the program running and I have logging "Enabled" but it doesnt show, do I have to be set on the control channel for that, or can it log as its scanning ?

Yes, it is not a specific scanner problem, it seems I run out of ports. I can run 3 instances of ProScan with SDS100, 536, and BCT15x, but cannot fit TRX-1 in there. When I replace one with TRX-1 it works, but whatever I sacrifice for that I cannot assign to a port. I am not seeing ports 2, 3 or 7 for some reason. I have tried everything, rebooting with and without scanners assigned. Seems to be a Win10 problem. Still working on it, see what happens. Thanks for the input, guys
