I was wondering if Uniden may, in the near future, make a digital scanner that looks like the 796D but has the workings of the new 996? I really love the older style of the Uniden - Bearcat scanners and just had the thought. Anyone have a rumor mill update?

I would assume the newer style is to accomodate the din mounting system for cars, the 780 design doesn't fit that standard.. just my guess...
That's cool. Either way, or model style, I know that it should be a solid scanner. Wonder if the new 996 will be updated in the future? Thanks.
