I noticed in the change notes this statement in the latest SDRuno release: Added: Prevention of cellular frequency ranges being used for the scanner. This seems rather interesting that after all this time that SDRPlay would restrict any frequency bands, especially since this blocking is no longer valid for the original purpose. Someone should get this old law removed so we can have no restrictions on listening. FCC needs to catch up.
I may be missing the point, but i think the blocking is there to prevent the scanner from constantly stopping on the strong signals within those bands. Happy to be corrected.
You make a excellent point. I can block any frequency manually but in this case, you are right since you don't have to worry about any manual intervention and logic prevails. Thanks for the explanation
The frequencies are not blocked in the receiver. They are blocked in the scanning part of the software in order to comply with ECPA and TDDRA. The FCC cannot order the blocking removed. Congress would have to pass a law amending ECPA.
I am excited for the added "diversity". I connected another UHF antenna, which independently picks up about half of the main one. When diversity is applied, it just appears to dampen all but the strongest signals.
