For those listening in the Topeka area add another station to your lists...

Station 25 (Shawnee Heights Fire District), located at 89th and Paulen Roads will open effective September 18th. Apparatus assigned to the new Station are:

Engine 25- 2005 Freightliner/Toyne 4 door engine
Engine 26- 1989 Pierce Dash engine with extrication equipment
Tanker 25- 2005 Freightliner/Toyne 2000 gallon tanker
Rescue 25- 2006 Ford F550/Weis Fire Equipment first responder and brush unit

How many will staff the new station?

From the press release: "One full time firefighter / EMT will be on duty 24 hours per day.
One additional firefighter will also be scheduled Monday through Friday
7:00 am to 3:00 pm. In addition to the full time staff, additional on call
firefighters are dispatched to emergencies throughout the 198 square mile
fire district."
