To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to monitor Pima County Sheriff (AZ) and they use LTR Multinet.
Can I do this with a Uniden BC246T? The below message is on the database page for their frequencies. I don't know what a discriminator port is, or how to add one, or even buy one?
New to trunking, not new to scanning and monitoring. Thank you for any help.

"System can now be monitored successfully using LTRTrunk software, available on this website, and a scanner with a discriminator port added. See the forums for further discussion on this technology. Currently no stock scanner monitors this system. Please Note: Talkgroups indicated as 0-00-000 are known to exist in radios, but talkgroup numbers have not yet been determined"

Don't know what to tell you except that no scanners today will trunktrack LTR Multinet. I don't even know if Uniden or RadioShack will make one that will track this type of system. I have the same problem here in Clay County Florida, cannot track the FD and SO on ouor multinet system and havig the frequencies in conventional is a pain.

If this is true, the system is not Multi-Net, may be Passport. To track would require two receivers, one of which is capable of remote-control operation over a serial port; one that is supported by the program.

Check a recent related thread pointing to suggestions on how to conventionally scan a Multi-net system using a two scanners.

DaveH - sorry but you're mistaken. LTRTrunker does indeed track MultiNet. I use it all the time to track Rensselaer County, NY.

PRO-92 w/ LTR Multinet & Passport

I've been thinking . . . could the PRO-92 "trunk track" a Multi-Net or Passport system? I ask because it will track LTR systems but only looks for the sub-audible data with the transmission w/out checking that the frequencies are in correct order. This is just a random thought. Are there more fundamental differences that prevent the tracking of the other types of LTR systems?

MultiNet and Passport use control channels. No scanner can decode the control data streams.

Hello,

Passport and Multi-Net use the same sub-audible modulatiion method as Regular LTR but the data frame sizes are different and the format of the data is different. Scanners only decode Regular LTR.

this is just a general question, i have a midland 800mhz portable ltr radio i bought a year or so ago. im having a heck of a time trying to get it programmed with any ltr frequencies. just curious if anyone knew of any ltr frequencies in pana, illinois i know they have a system there in use by trucking companies and everyone else but not able to pick up any frequencies that they use. also curious if any one could tell me a place that would be able to program the radio i have. ive been told that no one was able to program it being it was to old.
