New User Uniden BCD996P2

I just purchased my first scanner, a Uniden BCD996P2. I've been listening to local scans online for a few years now but wanted to start doing this on my own.

I've had success programming the scanner with local police/fire through the FreeScan software and everything seems to be working fine.

Since I'm completely new to scanners, I'm wondering where I can start in learning how to utilize them. There are so many features on this scanner that I am completely clueless about and would like to start learning how to get the best usage out of them. I've been able to find the police codes for my area so I understand what is coming through on the radio.

Any help would be appreciated.
