An article on WLTX's website says that the Newberry Co. SD has provided schools with "communications devices" to "allow each school in Newberry County to have real time information from 911 dispatchers in the event of security issues or severe weather." From looking at the picture it appears the schools got Motorola Minitor pagers.

I wonder what frequency the SD will use to activate the pagers?

that is very interesting, adds an extra thing for the DP to have to remember to do during a crsis situation, and hopefully not ever need to be used, but there is a good thought in doing this... i hope they spend a little time teachign the users how it works, heh

Greenville Co bought crystal scanners back in the 70's for the schools and they operated a 461.700 mHz repeater. Used them for the same service. They now operate 800 trunking on a private system but just for security, maint, and adm. All of the schools in Greenville operate on seperate freqs. VHF, UHF, and FRS. A big jumbled up mess as always. Pickens Co has their own 800 system used for adm, buses, and bus maint. Not any of them are smart enough to put together a total package.
