Hello everyone, the last scanner i owned was a 20ch bearcat. Impulse shopping led be to purchase a Rs PRO-2096. I figured out the v memory the first night. The Second night i spent all night getting the Win96 program unzipped and getting the comm cable to work. This program makes life so much easier. I currently only have 0 1 2 3 programmed for my county(PA-Montgomery...but i am in the corner of it surrounded by 2 others, Bucks and Berks, also not to far from allentown). This Evening I tried to dowload Allentown EDACS System into Bank 8 but thus far i haven't gotten any chatter on it? If anyone has time to give tips on uses, programming, etc i would love to hear from you....God have these things changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you

I'm here a lot
One suggestion is to start at ch. 351 in bank 8 (or is it ch. 401 ?) and not at any random point in the bank. LCN's must be programmed from the first channel in the bank.

welcome to the 21 st century  ;) . . . and to RadioReference :)

You might be too far away from Allentown. 800MHz can be very spotty, so put it on MANUAL and see if you can hear the control channel (strong buzz). The CC is not noted in the database so you'll have to enter all 10 freqs. They are in LCN (Logical Channel Number) order in the database, so just enter them starting with 401, NOT the first channel, 400. The small number before the freq. is the LCN.
If you can't hear the CC, slowly move the scanner around and you may find a "sweet spot" where the signal is strong enough to hear it. 1/4 wavelength at 856MHz is only about 3-1/4", so just moving it a little can make a huge difference.

It sounds as if you are really grasping this stuff. Congratulations. It aint easy. :)

Just curious as to where in Montgomery County you are. From past experience, the Allentown TRS has a very poor signal compared to the Bethlehem Motorola TRS (if the conditions are right, I can pick up Bethlehem as far south as the Downingtown/Exton area, but only if I'm in relatively higher elevations). I can barely pick up the Allentown TRS on 309 south of I-78 in the Upper Saucon Twp/Coopersburg area, so I doubt you'll be able to get Allentown TRS in MontCo (though, it's possible you could get the VHF channels that repeat some TRS traffic).
