• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Came across this article, last week. A newfoundland man was charged with impersonating officer , when searched, they found pepper spray and a police scanner in the car. Even had a crown victoria with strobelights in the headlights and tailights.

Hell I have three of these things (lights and scanner) in my white Crown Vic, but I also only have amber lights, and I only turn them on when I'm at work.

Wonder what kind of scanner he had.. and how that lady knew it wasnt a real copper?
Does she call the police on any police car that "forces her off the road"
I bet she just pulled over and said he ran her off.. who knows;)

Deer Lake isn't exactly a huge town, you'd more than likely recognize the car/individual enough to single them out. Only has a population of ~5,000.

Heck, my friends have recognized my car going the opposite direction of Highway 401 across 6 lanes of traffic with a combined closing speed of 200 km/h :p
