As I remember they use different freqs for helicopter operations and news feeds. You're more likely to get the news listening to the media freqs than the heli freqs. Here's a few I have - no guarantee as to what you'll hear:
161.300 - Channel 3
161.670 - Channel 10
450.6125 - Channel 12
161.640 - KTAR Traffic watch
123.550 - Phoenix PD helicopters
123.025 - Phoenix area heli to heli - They established this one after the 2 copters crashed 20 years ago in hopes a similar accident won't happen again

123.650 is Phoenix PD's air support division "company" channel. It changed from 123.550 several years ago. When 2 Firebirds are up at the same time, and the pilots want to have an extended conversation, they switch from .025 to here.

And 123.025 was in use long before the TV 5 and TV 15 helicopters collided in mid-air over Steele Indian School Park. It's a nationwide assignment for helicopter air-air use.

hmmmm, didn't know PD changed freqs, I'll have to change that one. Thanks. And someone told me they established the air to air freq after the accident. I suppose I should have known better.

Media aircraft in L.A. also use 123.025. I’m told they added a frequency and there’s now some sort of geographic separation between the two freq assignments.

4th edition of air-scan by tom kneitel (1984) has 123.025 as helicopter air to air.
that pre-dates the accident by over 20 years.
