With KABC air 7, they use NXDN. You can listen if you program the frequencies as digital conventional, does not work in trunk modes.

These are the confirmed frequencies I have for them.
450.1250, 450.165625, 450.171875, 450.315625, 455.4125. These are confirmed voice channels.
Control channels I have are 450.134375 Ran 1, 450.30625 Ran 3, 450.156250 Ran 5.
The assignment desk always seems to use Ran 1, Air 7 can be on Ran#'s 1,2,3,4,5. Is different everytime they key the radio.
One other note is the assignment desk is always very low volume and Air 7 is normal volume.

Looks like we forgot to turn encryption back on. You shouldn't be hearing anything. :ROFLMAO:

I'll have to get back to you on that one! It's a bit of a mystery to me as well haha!

I know we've got sites on Verdugo Peak, Blue Ridge, Santiago, South Mountain, Oat Mountain, Palos Verdes and Mount Wilson. All sites aren't always active, so monitoring the system without an affiliated radio can be annoying.

Same with our conventional UHF 450.xxxx analog frequencies. They're manually selected by our microwave transmission engineers.

During the pandemic I had lots of time and with the protests in LA I had lots of traffic to work with.
The frequencies I listed have been confirmed with a SDR. Remember a scanner at narrow FM the bandwidth is still wider than an Nxdn radio. You are picking up 5 Nxdn frequencies wide.
I think I may still be missing one frequency or air 7 may be on a distant site I can't hear. I can only hear the RAN 1,3 & 5 sites.
If anyone else can throw some better info my way, I'm all ears. If you can hear the Ran 2 & 4 sites I would like to know what frequencies show up with those Ran's

Mike, did you ever work for a direct to home satellite company?

KTLA Sky 5 uses several of the MRA LTR sites for communications back to the news desk.

Is this site blocked thru RR.com unless you do a direct download from Sentinel? Also, do you exactly what MRA site this is?

This is what I found out searching thru MRA and there are three LTR sites with KTLA Copter 5. Interesting its showing in the Db that Copter 5 is on three different systems. I am just curious why there are three different systems showing KTLA talkgroups.

MRA (Mt. Lukens)
MRA (Saddle Peak)
MRA (Santiago Peak 2)

They access the site based on their location.
Having 3 sites available basically gives them airborne reception coverage from San Diego, up through Santa Barbara and well into San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
