I heard on a business channel report that SPRINT is SUPPOSEDLY pulling the plug on NEXTEL / Boostmobile in 2013. The report stated that there will be no further development of IDEN handsets. INTERESTING. I know that they wanted to kill NEXTEL for awhile. Interesting if this really does happen.

I've heard rumblings on the Canadian side of the border about the TELUS equivalent (MiKE). It's kind of a surprise, considering the (small, but not insignificant) number of agencies that went over to it for daily use. Guess the amount of users wasn't justifying the huge infrastructure.

Expect to see a CDMA deployment in the soon to be vacated public safety spectrum (821-823/866-869 MHz). This will be the new cellular C band and has been Sprint/NEXTEL's plan from day 1. This has been the carrot in the whole rebanding project, which is the creation of another block of contigious nationwide spectrum in 800.

At that point they will be able to really compete with the other carriers that utilize the upper 800 spectrum and will be able to get some real building penetration which is something that Sprint has been lacking since day 1.
