i saw the robert wood johnson nj ems task force mass care unit today. what type of radios do they have aboard ?. who is their primary dispatch center ?. any help would be appreciated.
I believe they are dispatched thru REMCS in Newark as part of the NJ EMS Task Force or directly from Robert Wood Johnson's Med Central. Most communications are on the NJSP 800 mhz statewide ems frequencies. If you go to the REMCS website, There is a list of their radio system which, other than the Essex County stuff, the rest of the radio plan would probably cover it.
They should have a huge pelican case with a bunch of 800mhz XTS2500's for task force operations. They can have anything they want as far as Mobile radios inside the truck

Most mobile radios in Task Force Apparatus were CDM 1550 but they have since moved to XTS series. Portable radios are in the XTS series. All requests for EMSTF equipment is processed through REMCS who contacts the vehicles home dispatch agency, in RWJ case MedCentral. They can also be requested directly by the Planners or Leaders
800mhz tends to be command frequency, operations occur on UTAC channels north of Manasquan River, VTAC south of the Manasquan...generally. The UHF system is more prevalent up north. Probability is that the BLS agencies have VTAC over UTAC and BLS is the backbone of the Task Force
