My unit will not lock on the system. Using the newest 05-09 version 1204. I really don't want to revert to the last version to see if there is any difference. I hear the W.Orange and Union sites fine on my G5 but my P25RX-II will not lock onto it. I set it up like all other systems I believe. I imported from RR and all seems correct. Take a look at my photo to see if I am doing anything dumb. Plenty of signal. It comes up with the correct NAC so I know it is hearing the CC. But it wont lock the CC. Just a mystery. My SDS100 and G5 work fine and I know those are the correct CC's at the moment. Every other system I put in from Rhode Island to NYC and in between work flawlessly. Just a learning experience. There must be different setting for them? I even tried the other modulations for S's and G's. No joy.

-106 is a pretty crappy signal. Try increasing the gain.

Yeah not the best signal, and I am 100 miles away from it, but at max 32db it wasn't much better. But I have some systems that actually work at -115 with this unit no problem. And it is pretty much hand to hand with my G5, and the G5 is having no problem with exactly the same signal. There must be something I am overlooking.

OK I lowered the gain way down and both systems are working now on the P25RX-II. Most likely I have other systems near me using adjacent freqs causing desense. So now it is -118db but receiving the system fine. Go figure.
Glad to hear you got it going! I wonder if lowering the AGC target under the advanced tab would help when using the auto gain settings? Maybe It should have a lower default target of -16 dB?

I didn't mess with any of those settings in the Advanced Tab because I wasn't sure what those did and what the difference were between the gains in that tab compared to the gains in the separate Channel Config entries. Are those like global settings that take president over the settings in the separate Channel Config tab? Right now the AGC target is at default -10db. So after I change a setting in the Advance Tab, does it take effect right away or do I have to send the "write config" from somewhere? I wanted to ask this a couple days ago but I know you are busy getting the next firmware out. :)

The LNA, Mixer, and VGA gains are global settings under the advanced tab. With the latest versions of the firmware, they are overridden by the channel configuration settings when the "install to flash" option is used. The AGC target, Step time, and Hysteresis are currently global. It may be that these should also be configurable per channel. Yes, you do have to use the <write config> option to save changes to these values.

Excellent answer Todd, thank you. I will have to mess with those a little next time I am struggling to hear something that I know I should be. I know the radio has the capability. It just needs to be tweaked for these extreme reception challenges that most don't even try.
Clicking on the "Find optimal fixed gains: button locks the Java console up, but I think you said you were fixing that.
