I purchased a new antenna a few weeks ago.

I took it out of the packaging and mounted it on my car with no adjusting. It easily out-performed the other antenna I had which is similar to this, but has a spring at the base.

If anyone is looking for a good 700/800 dedicated NMO mount antenna, this is your answer.
BTW, it also dosen't do bad on 450-470 UHF. My local sheriff's office uses this band, and it picks them up quite well, but that tower is only about 15 miles away. I have only used it for a mobile so far, but I'm sure it would do quite well on my ground plane kit I have for my base.
