Hi All,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right spot. I currently am running a nmo mag mount on my truck roof with a 4 foot antenna for my scanner. I'm tired of the cable being pinched in the door, but I also want to stay away from a drill install as I'm not sure how much longer I'll be keeping my truck, be hard to get rid of it with some extra holes in the roof lol. So doing some research on stake pocket mounts, i found a post here referencing Breedlove Mounts. I checked their site out and liked what I saw. Should make for a clean install. Still being fairly new to the radio/scanning game, what cable do i need for either of the mounts pictured? Is there one out there that terminates in a BNC connection, or an adapter out there? I am running a uniden BCT15X.

Thanks for the help,
Jordan

The one with the SO-239 connector will work. You need RG58 coax, usually 17 feet or less is normal for vehicle installs. The PL-259 mates with the SO-239 on the base of the mount. Go on Ebay and search for rg58 PL159 bnc. You'll find a bunch, some ready made in various lengths, others custom made to your needs. I suggest you stick with US sellers with very high percentages of feedback. Shop the seller, then the item.

Did you look for a service plug at the rear of your truck cab? Either on the rear wall below the window, or on the floor? These are convenient places to route cable to a tool box or your roof for a magnet mount. Much better than through your door seals. Ideally a hole mount in the roof above your interior dome light works best. When you trade in the truck, you can pop in a rubber plug to fill the hole and your done. The plug can even be painted to match the finish. :). 73, n9zas
