• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So it absolutely has to be 806-960? If 750-870 will do you...

Yeah, I need to go up in 900 MHz. I can give Arcadian a call and see what they say, but the website lists minimum of 6.
Yep I looked it up and it said minimum of six and also it said out of stock.

Not sure if your looking for the new or old style but amazon has the old unit for delivery Friday. Shows shipped from Wiscomm so maybe ping them ? My last one came from Antennafarm and only took a week.

If I remember correctly the old one which has been around a long long time was a scanner monitor antenna only and was not rated for transmit. Also doesn't have the spring or heavy duty mount.

It is an excellent scanner antenna, but not for commercial use. I could be wrong, they may have upgraded it for TX in latter years.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely looking for the new SF model with the spring and better mount. Tessco has them in stock, I believe, but the $96 or whatever seems fairly steep.

Yeah, if you don't have an account with Tessco, they'll hose you on the price. With an account, it's around $53.00

The Antenna Farm doesn't show them, but you could give them a call and see if they can get it for you. When I've ordered from them in the past, it always came in packaging with labels that resembled Tessco, so I suspect Antenna Farm uses Tessco as their source for some of the products.

It was used for years in public safety on transmitters. Was a solid unit. Not sure where you read it was for RX only.

As reference I logged into Tessco also and show the -

NMO Tri-Band 150-174/430-520/806-960 MHz
  • TESSCO SKU: 282887
  • QTY: 1 EACH
  • UPC: 888063472626
  • MFG PART #: NMO150/450/800SF
On sale for $35.00

Tally only shows the the standard for $45

Yeah, I don't have nearly a big enough account with them to get those prices. I will definitely try Antennafarm. I didn't see it on their website, but I will give them a call and see.

They definitely use Tessco. I actually had a few antennas drop shipped directly from Tessco, in the past. Still had their packaging and labels and everything. Never went to Antennafarm first.

When Larsen first released the NMO-150/450/800, it was marketed as a monitor antenna. There was no mention of transmitting, power handling capability, SWR, etc.
After a few years on the market, they changed. It started being marketed as a multiband antenna for multiband radios, probably around the time the first tri-band LMR radios hit the market. It does just fine when used where it's designed. I think it's good up to 100 watts.

Yep, thanks, I remember now where I saw it was for RX only... It was on the antenna itself LOL. It was right on the ring of the top of the nmo mount. We are talking when the antenna first came out, must be 20 years or more. I see now it is rated for up to 100 Watts.

Holy crap! Just checked TESSCO for something else, and the NMO150/450/800SF just went on sale for $35! I attempted to order 3, and it says I am not an authorized buyer...even though I have placed dozens of orders with them. Argh!!! Have to wait and call them tomorrow morning.

And the older model NMO-150/450/800 is $32.04

Not sure if they still have the $50 minimum order, though. Might have to order one for myself.
