I just recently had an issue with my BCD996P2 scanner where it's not picking up a signal? It was working yesterday now today it has just stopped working and won't pick up a signal, is there a way to fix this ?

*it's already updated to the latest firmware*

Maybe you should do a "Factory Reset".

If you need to do a factory reset, here's how:

1. Turn off your scanner

2. Hold down the following keys at the same time.

2, 9, and hold

3. While holding down those three buttons, power the unit on

Make sure you have your file backed up first.

Good luck!

I would not recommend doing this is this situation, as it essentially just clears programming. As people have said, your squelch is all the way up. turn it down to two or three and see if that fixes everything.

aaaannnddd,,,,could you inform us, and others, as to how.
even saying the squelch thing could help the next one searching for the answer.
it is kind of why we are here.

Squelch acts as a filter for background EM noise. If you turn it all the way down, you get nothing but static. the proper setting is as low as it can be without hearing static. Having it too high filters out good signals. On our scanners we generally recommend using 2 or 3. Any higher and you will probably miss some transmissions
