• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

i recently bought a dm32 because all of my local area went dmr. after going thru the usual "communication" problems i was able to get all of the channels i wanted to start with programmed into the radio along with all of the extra dmr related info. i could find on each channel. the problem is that there is no sound or indication that it is receiving anything. the fm radio stations in the area work fine but nothing on any of my analog or dmr programmed freqs. using the factory cps version 1.38

any ideas are much appreciated, ive spent countless hours with this thing!!
thanks, MIKE.

Do you have the correct color codes, talkgroups and slots programmed correctly? Are you sure the DMR users aren't encrypted?

i input all of those parameters that i could find for each freq. but a few of them are incomplete but only a few. as far as encryption i dont know, but the fact that even the fm freqs. dont come thru seems strange. ive got a bc125at that still picks up the analog freqs but of course not the dmr. according the RR the closest dmr repeater in 25 miles is actually in my town and it also still does analog for what thats worth. ive been scanning for 30+ years with radio shack, unidens but dmr is totally new to me.

If you're using Encode tones on any of the FM frequencies, be aware that the encode and decode entries need to be reversed (due to an error in the CPS). Try this... enter any necessary encode tones in the decode section and leave any decode entries blank (carrier squelch).
Additionally, depending on your particular CPS version, it might also be necessary to tick the Forbid Talkaround box in the channel detail screen. In some cases, this bug would prevent the radio from transmitting the offset frequency to the repeater.

To confirm whether or not you need to tick the Forbid Talkaround box, set your radio to a repeater channel and check the display to see if the frequency changes when you TX. If the frequency doesn't change, change the Forbid Talkaround setting.
