• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Is the volume turned up? You have to use the up arrow on the front of the scanner. The knob on top is squelch. I suggest trying an earpiece in case the jack is muting the internal speaker. Are the talkgroups encrypted?

Is system Type set to Project25? Please let me know which system that you are trying to monitor (State, County, City, Agency, Etc.). Are you using the Whistler programming software for the WS1080/WS1088? The latest version is 2.36.

How long ago did it fail? York Co used to be UHF T-Band. They are now using 700 MHz frequencies. I use system type Project25 and Auto Fill on my scanner and the York Co system works just fine. Make sure that you enter all of the frequencies on each site. Harris systems can use any frequency as the control channel.

Could it be that Whistler fixed one thing, only to break another?

I am just above Shrewsbury. Not far from one of the towers. I will try the auto fill when I get home see if that helps

Welp, Sorry about that, It's sounds like your radio needs to go back to repair (again), Or time for a newer, more better scanner..
Assuming it was working properly on this system prior to the first failure and ensuing repair incident?!

Russell623: I am just down the road from you. I would be happy to meet you somewhere and program your scanner with the same programming that I have on mine that I know works. That would tell you if you have a scanner problem before you send it in for repair. I would send you a private message, but I can't do that until you become a member.
