I bought a Yeasu FT-70DR and I have not been able to figure out how to get the NOAA weather radio stations. I've had a few Yeasu's since 2003 and never had an issue using the weather radio. the manual doesn't say much about it. What is the deal? Is the channels not preprogrammed in?

I saw this page in the manual.

Follow the steps (1 - 4) on the page. Then do step 5. Step 6 gets you to the channels. Finally, step 7 when done.

It might be easier to just program the weather frequencies into memory and lock them out so they aren't scanned and access them manually when needed if you can't follow the steps as was talked about in the other posted thread.

After looking at that other thread that's the one i saw last night before posting. I can't believe Yeasu made it that hard to access a important feature. On my 170 i can hit the upper arrow and hold it down to scan the memory channels but on this one i have to use F and 2 to scan.

You know the FT-70 has two manuals, correct? There is the Operation Manual that is included in the box with the radio and the Advance Manual that has to be downloaded from the website.

I wasn't sure, but it's still a good thing to have.
Yeah I already had downloaded it and read it when i got the radio. I still can't believe there isn't a easy one touch button for the weather service like scanners and some radios have. on my FT-2800 mobile i have button P2 set for the weather. I don't know if you can use P2 for that on the Ft-70.

Based on page 18 in the operating manual, it appears that you can assign "Weather alert scan" (61--WX ALT) to either P1 or P2.

I know that on my FTM-100, I had to program one of the microphone buttons to bring up the weather channel when I want it. I don't know how you'd do that on the FT-70 since it's a handheld.
