I posted a noise complaint at the antenna forum, but have now figured out that I do not have an antenna problem. I have two Radio Shack Pro-2026s. I am have some sort of noise interference when my car is in motion. It sounds like a pop and hiss noise LPs make when you listen to the except louder. Through troubleshooting different antennas, I have determined that it is not the antenna or coax. I have put both radios in the car and they both make the noise. When sitting still, I have no problem, but any forward motion and I get that noise. It is worse in to 800+ MHz band than it is on any other band. I do have alternator hum, but it is almost nonexistent. The only other things I can think of is something is generating that noise in my car, or I am getting noise throught the power cable. Any help would be great.

The most common problems I have run into is igntion noise and on board computer noise. Have you disconnected the antenna to see if the noise stops? You probably know what igntion noise sounds like so I am going to guess it is an on board computer noise. My truck gives off a lot of noise on certain freqs which will change with the engine RPM. The only thing that helped me on mine was using PL or DPL tones.

Alright guys, maybe this will help someone with RFI problems. I worked on this scanner for some time before I called one the local radio shops that deal in 800Mhz radios. His advise was to change power input, which I did, but that did not solve the problem completely. I added a noise filter to the power cable and that helped as well. The thing that helped the most was moving my ground. It was attached to the same grounding block as my CB. I moved it to the other side of the car, and now I barely get the noise. I know ground is ground, but I guess the devil is in the details. I will continue to get what little interference there is out of the scanner, but I can hear what is going on.
