Does anyone know why NorthComm's signal comes thru so much weaker on my scanner than law enforcement? I believe their dispatch channel is still analog and I know most LE up here in north county is digital now. Could that be it? I just don't understand how specific talk groups could have a weak signal while others are perfectly fine on the same talk system (same frequencies).

You're just hearing the difference in audio quality between analog and digital. You may have caught a dispatcher who had their mic too far from their mouth and was especially low volume or something as well.

I'm hearing this also. The fire talkgroups (and EMS, too) are analog and just not the same signal quality as digital. Unfortunately.

Also, depending on your scanner, you can increase the relative volume level for particular talkgroups. So either lower the Sheriff ones,or increase the fire ones a few ticks.
