An informed source told me that the Bergen County Prosecuter ordered NWBCD's connection to all DMV and criminal records databases pulled effective on 1/1/2008.

Police departments served by NWBCD must now use laptops in police cars, or ask sworn officers manning their respective police desks for DMV lookups and criminal background checks. The NWCBD dispatchers no longer have access to any of this information.

What sense does this make and why do you think the Prosecuter cut the cord?

Confirmed by who? I'm not insinuating anyone is lying..but I am hard pressed as to why I have not seen one news story about this.

The story is very local in nature. The Ridgewood News may run an article this week, but the paper is not available on line.

I would think it would be on News 12.

I'm looking for anyone to report it at this point. Not everyday you hear somebody's CJIS privileges pulled.

When I was an SO for Morristown, when we first got the MDT's in the car, a few guys got suspended for putting coffee orders on it. THey weren't told everything was being recorded on microfilm at the county comm center!

Just to get the record completely straight, there has been NO mismanagement or misuse of NWBCD's CJIS line. They were not shut off at all. Their STATE line is STILL in place and completely operational although it has been scheduled to be shut down and switched over to the county line (Just as has been done or will be done with every other municipal agency that has a STATE line). Restrictions on their use of their STATE CJIS line have been imposed by the BC Prosecutor due to the lack of a signed agreement for use of the new BC line. There has been NO suggestion or allegation by ANYONE that any NWBCD employee has committed any type of CJIS violation.
