Not hearing tones

I have a bcd996p2 and for some reason I'm not able hear any tones when a call is going out. Anyone have any insight on this?

How do you know there are tones if you can't hear them?

On my other scanner I am able to hear tones

I do hear the details but sometimes it skips out on the beginning part of the transmission

Do you have ANY priority modes set?

No. I am now programming the scanner for tone outs. So Ill see where that gets me. Thank you

I know of an agency that uses CTCSS for voice traffic but not for tone outs so if you have CTCSS enabled, you will not hear the tone outs but only voice traffic. Maybe this is the case. Disable CTCSS and see if you hear the tone outs?

I've heard that some times systems will strip PL tones on paging channels because they interfere with pager activation. Try setting your scanner to CSQ and see what happens.
