Before you start with the usual things try reading.

Driving to work with SDS 100 on GPS. Listening to Safe T and Vanderburgh CO Simulcast. Everything is fine and suddenly:

Scan Mode
Nothing to Scan

Since I was driving I decided to ignore the scanner till I got to work.

Before I even got out of the county suddenly guess what: Yep it's scanning again..

Defective scanner? Nope
Programming error? Nope
SD card? Maybe
GPS losing it's mind? I did read where GPS satellites are due for a major update.
Aliens? Hey maybe they want my Uniden Scanner!

Just goes to show that nothing is ever perfect and S**t happens.

Are you scanning a Favorites List? If so, just for the heck of it, try setting it to Location Control Off. If the scanner keeps scanning, as in NOT showing that "Nothing to Scan" message, I'm betting there is something with your programming, whether you are out of range from a site, or you are outside the Department's range.

Quick question - if scanning by GPS and the signal is dropped from the satellite to the GPS does it affect or pause the scanner, or just 'reacquire' and hiccup? I have yet to scan with a GPS but going to give it a try (competing with my old system) on my Alaska trip here in a few weeks. I am going to buy a 2nd SDS200 for the RV and take both, same antenna, one scanning with GPS, the other by preprogrammed Favorite Lists, with prearranged stops here and there and see how it goes. It will be an adventure!

If it loses GPS signal the scanner doesn't miss a beat until it reacquires the GPS signal. If you unhook the GPS it'll scan from the last point the GPS was read. My 536 in the car is running off GPS. In the areas I spend a LOT of time I made my own favorite lists with everything i want to hear location controlled. When I'm out of my usual zones (greater Toronto area and Western New York and SW Arkansas and NE Texas) I location scan the full database with only a few service types (most relevant) activated. It's pretty amazing how it works. I have yet to see NOTHING TO SCAN pop up on any of the Uniden radios I've controlled via GPS.

Yes it was a FL. One I have used for a while. I drive this route to work every day. This Nothing to Scan was an anomaly. Same scanner, same FL, same GPS are working fine. Never happened before or since.
