Make sure "Download" and "Monitor" are enabled for your Fav List in the Profile before you wright to the scanner...

Unless you read the scanner first... As Bud stated...
But if you wrote to the scanner, then reading it back after that won't change it... Check the Profile...

Are you using Sentinel?

If so... Edit "Profile"... Then select the "Scan Selection" tab...
Then make sure you save it after changing it...

Yes, this is a rather steep learning curve for a novice.

There are two main levels of programming this radio: 1) Favorites, which is a list of what you want to monitor; and 2) the profile which defines how you want the radio to do and how.

Please, review the following sections, watch You Tube videos on programming, etc.

Start with reviewing these two as resources.

BCDX36HP Sentinel Software Manual

Easier to Read BCD436/536HP Digital Scanner Manual

From what I am seeing, there is very little digital traffic in your area.

I have come across that at times too, do an update or refresh and when done, "nothing to scan". But something I always wondered about thou, when you updated the main database, does it just update the master list and update your programmed frequencies you have as well or just the master one? I read thru some info and manual, didn't really catch what updating does other than update the master file. Thanks

The database update through Sentinel only updates your main database, it does not update any of your favorites lists.

Oh ok, so if your happy with the scanner as is with what you want to listen too, updating the database isn't really any more helpful at that point. So this may be a stupid question then, what is the main reason to keep it updated?

Because agencies change their radio systems and because those of us who travel with our GPS enabled scanners will want to have the latest updates so using location based scanning works.

Hum, on agenices changing their systems, you wouldn't know unless a channel went quiet on ya but still you are the one that updates it manually or via RR, so the master file wouldn't have anything to do with but ya, for those who use the GPS part of it on travel is for sure. Bascically, unless you use it with GPS and travel, it has nothing to do with what you have programmed into the scanner. I always kept it up to date so my programmed info was update to date, but in fact has nothing to do with the master list. Thanks for the info.
