The DMA scanners do not have "banks". You have quick keys (0 thru 99) that you can assign to systems, and also groups (up to 20 per system) that you can assign group quick keys (0 thru 9). This applies to the non-database Uniden DMA scanners, including the 996P2.

If you so desire, you could assign a number of systems to a single quick key, like 1. Then you could use the key to toggle all of those systems on or off at the same time, similar to the way older scanners (before DMA was introduced) could be set to scan, or not scan, a given bank. Several articles in the Wiki that cover this difference.

The closest thing to banks are Groups with respect to groups of channels.

Banks are also similar to Systems in that you can assign Systems Quick Keys that act like the bank toggle buttons.

No, the manual is not going to contrast the unit against others.
