I am 3 year veteran w/x36 am still learning features. I just figured how to apply the emergency alarm and different colored light feature. Now I have figured how to apply the numbers tags on some channels in the system/dept. using sentinel. Why do we have number tags? I want to be able to shut off some channels or back again weather it be on a 436 or 536. I don't see how turn off/on channel, just delete.

Number tags can be used when you press the "Chan" button and stop it from scanning. Then enter your number tag and press the "Chan" button again. This is just to go directly to a channel. You would press the "Chan" button again to resume scanning.

To disable and enable channels you would use the avoid function.

If you use a Number tag for a channel you then can go to it directly and hit the E/Yes key to bring menu up (Edit channel...Set avoid) to toggle avoid on and off.

That's one thing nice about the HP's... Always seems to be more than one way to do something.

Well, I think I am seeing the light on this portion. I don't think I have assigned dept quick keys. Will have to work on that next.

Use Quick Keys to enable/disable channels.

Use Number Tags to directly access a specific channel (or system or FL)

I have assigned number tags to all channels and I want to pull up the frequency. When I press chan to stop scanning and then func, it really do nothing no screen to enter the tags as shown on pg 26 of easy to read by mark. I must be doing something wrong.

Do you have any other Number tags assigned or just the channels? How are you entering the Number Tag? (are you pressing the MENU button after you type the number?)

I press chan to hold-func then enter my number tag (30) by using the keypad-----then I get a screen with a Direct heading with my tag (30 ). If I hit yes I get a quick TGID save? Yes or no. I am still not getting a screen to enter my 3 tag numbers.

If you assigned a number tag to an individual channel you also need to assign a number tag for the fav list and the system.
Then you would press the channel key to stop it from scanning. then enter, ie 8.2.10 and tap the channel key to go to that channel.
8 being the fav list tag number, 2 being the system tag number and 10 being the channel assigned with a tag number of 10.
Also.. Even if say there are 3 departments under the system with tag number 2 The channel tag number should only be used once. Not in multiple departments.

To use the Number Tags, hit the number then the MENU button. (not the ENTER key)

The Channel button is for direct entry. While it will work for a TG as long as you're on that system, it will not work for conventional frequencies or when you are scanning a different trunked system (it will cause a hold mode on that TG on the wrong system).

The Menu button will always work and is the method mentioned in the manual.

If your talking number tags to go directly to a channel to monitor it that is in a fav list you have...

It's in the manual....

Press Channel to hold on any channel.
Enter the Favorites number tag, .no, the System number tag, .no, then the Channel number tag and press Channel.
Press Channel to resume.
Examples:
2.5.6 to go to Channel 6 in System 5 in Favorites List 2.
1.10.36 to go to Channel 36 in System 10 in Favorites List 1.
.10.36 to go to Channel 36 in System 10 in current Favorites List.
..36 to go to Channel 36 in current System.
2. to go to Favorites List 2 (1st channel in 1st department in 1st system).
2.5. to go to System 5 in Favorites List 2 (1st channel in 1st department).

Yes, it is the CHANNEL button in the x36 series. It was the menu button on previous models. My bad.

But, you HAVE to include both dots on the Channel Number Tag only entry. Otherwise, you initiate a direct entry TG/frequency.
