• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I looked, and I didn't see anything immediately, but is there any way to verify which version antenna you have? KRA26M/M2/M3? I also didn't see anything on the UHF whips either.

I have the list/ranges, but how do I physically tell an M from an M2 from an M3? I didn't see any part number markings on the antennas in question.

Some bands have markings around the connector on the bottom. If it helps, the KRA-26M 146-162 MHz measures 6 3/4" from tip to bottom of the SMA.

Ok, it did measure out approximately 6.75".

I've always heard you don't get accurate measurements putting a portable antenna on an analyzer, but would it atleast show a dip in swr somewhere in the middle of the frequency range? I could put it on my VNA, but I don't have the other models to test against.

The antennas have different-coloured bases surrounding the SMA connector.

26M is red, 26M2 is orange, 26M3 is brown.
Thats what I was looking for. Is it safe to assume red/orange/brown is M/M2/M3 for the whole lineup (26, 27, 41, 42, 22 & 23)?

While we're at it, here's some more from an unknown-date catalog:
KRA-22M146–162red
KRA-22M2162–174orange
KRA-22M3136–150brown
KRA-23M440–490white
KRA-23M2470–520green
KRA-23M3400–450emerald green
KRA-27M440–490red
KRA-27M2470–520green
KRA-27M3400–450brown
KRA-32K763–870
KRA-35W335–400blue

Unfortunately, the helicals (KRA-22/23/26) are supposed to be the same length across M/M2/M3 variations, so the color code is the only visible distinguishing factor.

Just to add to your list:

KRA-38K is the 800/900MHz antenna. It has a white label on the underside around the female SMA connector. The latest ones I've purchased actually say "38K" on the white label on the antenna.

The KRA-32's I have do not have any color code around the antenna base. Some of the older versions I have do have two yellow stripes around the top of the antenna. Those were from the 2011 timeframe.

KRA-22 and KRA-27's I have are both red, as your chart shows.
