If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Help!

Good morning,

While programming one of our new radios here, I "think" I must have overwritten the radio with programming from another radio, and now all the unit does is "beep - beep - beep - beep" the entire time it is powered up. I'm using software KPG-141DN version 4.80.

What have I screwed up bright and early on a Monday morning???

Thanks.

I would have thought so too, but when I upload valid programming from another NX-820 from this same batch of radios, then download it into the "beeping" one, it still continues to beep as soon as it comes out of programming mode.

First time I've encountered something like this.

Thanks for any and all assistance.

That's it!! One is a K and the other is a K2. Bought them both at the SAME time! Ok...now what do I need to do to fix the K2 "beeping" unit?

Dump a blank 450-520 in it.

First export your current info from the good, save it. Open a new file, change property to 450-520, import your info, write it.

And still it beeps! Here is what I did:

"Read" info from working "K" radio.
Exported it.
Started "new" file.
Set frequency range to the 450-520 selection.
Imported the previously exported file.
"Write" programming out to the "K2" radio.
And still it beeps!

okay, i see your doing now....

the K is the master radio, the k2 is the NEW.
K2 is 400-470
swap same process...
K2 to gets K import, make sure you set range first, then program it.

I can't remember for sure. It's possible, I've been checking and it seems the dealer mixed in a K2 in with my K units. If I can't undo whatever I did this morning, I'm sending it back for a swap so that all my units are the same.

I'm just a Plant Manager...not an expert at radio model differences! LOL

Thanks for any help you can throw at me!!!
