• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is ADP encryption standard with NX5200 and NX5700 or is an encryption module required?

ADP is available in in the DMR side only, as far as I know. Kenwood refers to it as "ARC4" which is the standard name for it.
It's a software add on, no crypto module required.

You are correct, it's an option on the P25 side as well as DMR. I think originally it wasn't included. They added it when the other company started giving it away.

My NX5300 has arc4 license and it only works for P25, NOT DMR. Haven’t tried NXDN.

You have to add the DMR ARC4 feature license. KWD-5500EE
I don't believe the NXDN side supports ARC4. It only does the 15 bit "scrambler", or you need to add the DES/AES option.

Correct.

The DMR ARC4 also costs $43.20 while the P25 ARC4 key is free.

If the encryption module is installed do you get AES256 on everything? I will keep using the NX series I have but don’t want to put too much into them (module) since I’m moving to Viking going forward. We have cashes of NX1300 DMR radios and I really don’t know what the encryption options are there.

I believe it does on P25 and NXDN. Never used the DMR function on these. Maybe someone else has and can confirm.

I have a bunch of the NX-1300's at work for various users, both DMR and NXDN versions.
They include:
NXDN 15 bit "scrambler"
Analog voice inversion scrambler

DMR ARC4 encryption is OPTIONAL, I seem to recall there was some built in "scrambler" or low level encryption option on the DMR side, but I don't have my programming laptop here at home to check/refresh my memory.

That's correct, for DMR the Kenwood also includes a 15-Bit Scrambler that's very similar to that used in NXDN mode
