Are all nxdn48 channels encrypted? So far every channel I have found is encrypted.

What department are you listening to?
nothing in particular just looking for strong signals in the 450 - 465 range and have found at least 6 nxdn48 channels and they are always garbled and show up in the event log with enc before the talk group.

Yes, those are encrypted channels. And nxdn48 is icom radio and nxdn 96 is kenwood
I know that is why I asked the question because I don't find any that are not encrypted. I found alot of dmr channels and all work fine. So far I have not found any nxdn96 channels.

Certainly not. There are plenty of NXDN48 channels/systems in the clear.

That's not accurate. Kenwood's NEXEDGE trunking systems operate in either 4800 bps (4 kHz bandwidth) or 9600 bps (8.3 kHz bandwidth).

All NXDN48 channel everywhere? No! Plenty of NXDN activity "in the clear" in my region. Here's a tip for you: Look at the database tables corresponding to the system(s) you're monitoring. Focus on the 'Mode' column. Any time you see mode "DE" the uppercase "E" suffix denotes full time encryption. If partial encryption were in use the talkgroup would be ID'ed with a lowercase "e" as in "De". Mode "D" (with no letter E or e) tells you it's "in the clear" and can be monitored. Hope this helps

I have a DSDplus so it decoder for me. Because my city fire/pd use NXDN96(kenwood) conv channel.
I use dsdplus also and with sdrsharp, hdsdr, and sdr console v3. I find that sdrsharp is all around ok but hdsdr does better on HF and sdr console does a much better job of DMR than sdrsharp even though it is using the same dsdplus.

Does it show you which encryption algorithm is in use? I could use some Encrypted NXDN48 or 96 samples for FME validation. Is there any chance you could record some raw signal samples and submit them to me.

461.175 and 454.100 are control frequencies
