• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Oh also, 152.78MHz, Federal News Radio, WFED from Washington DC. Probably one of the remote broadcast sites aboard the ships for our service members.

I also remember last year, a couple of the Citywide frequencies were actively being used by NYPD in the area where the ships were docked. You may hear some extra activity on 157.050 (NYC Coast Guard station) and 164.9125 (mostly P25 now). The NY Marine PD may be more active along with 122.9 and 123.100. If I remember correctly, last year someone posted a really nice group of frequencies they close-called during fleet week on the NYC forum. I'll be too busy enjoying myself at the beach than caring about the scanner hobby this weekend, but for those who do monitor, let us know what you pick up.
