Hello All,

I've been outta the loop for monitoring for a bit and just listen while at work since its work. My question is I tried listening to the buff groups that I had programmed in my radio and haven't heard anything. For NYC there was a few: CW1NY, CWNY, NYCR. New Jersey had some as well. I was shocked esp when all boxes Tx today while at work none were heard about or any PD priority jobs on CW1NY. When I would listen to them it was like listening to CW or SOD are they still alive around? They have a FB page but there is also now a disaster service. I also seen groups on FB called (New York Rescue Team) (First Responder Task Force) and ( Nassau Central Radio). I'm guessing there is radio buff groups on Li as well now?

Any info or update freqs would be great to listen in on.
Have a great day and safe tour,

The groups have been dissolved is my best guess. I reside in the Metro New York area--Westchester County so I'll be more then happy to provide you with any frequencies you may require so private message me or let me know here. One good one is News 12 Chopper and they are 450.6375/DCS464 Also, FDNY is no longer on 154.19/154.25/154.37/154.400/154.430 as they have migrated to UHF narrowband frequencies and I'll provide that too if you request them or better yet, log onto www.radioreference.com, click on frequency data base, then click onto New York State, then click onto New York City and you will see everything. Same applies to Westchester/Putnam/Orange/Rockland Counties, ect. Westchester County Department of Emergency Services uses Motorola Smart Zone ll which has about (4) UHF frequences and about (70 id groups) as they share it with Bee-Line Buss and Liberty Lines. This system down the road will be replaced as Motorola doesn't support this analog radio system anymore. Hope this helps you out KD2JFA.

I'm still hearing CW1NY
What frequencies do the buff clubs still use? I don't think they are listed on Radioreference.com, are they? Let me know.
I think they had their repeaters in New Jersey on the Alpine tower? Fill me in as NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Keep in mind something unrelated to radio: there's not that much to talk about.

Fires are few and far between, and unless you're an EDP buff, there's not much going over SOD worth talking about, either.

Also this: pager notifications. Why attach yourself to a radio waiting for "the big one," when you can go about your day and your phone will tell you what you want to know?

There's another problem: NYC cops react to a building fire as if they all are, or potentially are, terrorist attacks, and jump on anyone they perceive should not be within the lines (regardless of the neighborhood). That, along with the much-heard "Level 1 Mobilization" brings out the calvary to surround a scene. So why bother even going?

CWRNY has had some technical difficulties, compounded by a digital system on the same frequency causing problems there, making it difficult to make it "active" even to any minimal extent.

Others here can comment on the other groups.

I've pulled the buff Freqs out of my radios, they just took up space. I even ended my subscription with BNN since citizen tends to be more active and in real-time. FDNY has an official alert Twitter that tweets out "all hands" jobs and then there SOD and FD CW-1 more then you can ever need for NYC scanning. And then there's "notify NYC" which is run by OEM and waze for traffic alerts.

Yes. MFR still active, although not as active as when it first started. MFR 465 seems to be the most active in the bunch.
