I have not monitored this frequency (470.8875 123.0) for sometime and did so today briefly. It has the usual citywide announcements but some specific units seemed to be on air, ie. Public Safety team in Queens, a CO (unknown unit) requesting Central to put an alert out on a specific car, etc. Does anyone know specifically what this frequency is used for? Thanks

Sounds like Auto Theft Task Force as far as I can distinguish

I've been listening to CW4 Analog for a few weeks now from the Bronx. I am getting mostly Taskforce units over the air. Alot of auto theft units too.

How does that work with the radios? They just switch from analog to digital anytime they want?
Another member mentioned that the APX Next radios were reprogrammed recently so that may be it. Also, I noticed SOD units are using TAC-H for simplex comms more often now so I can only speculate that TAC-G may be going P25E soon.

listening the last few weeks i’ve noticed for select operations and or vehicle pursuits that are going from borough to borough, along with the execs doing a rundown every so often. they’ve kept the analog on for a while. i have audio of a pursuit that went from queens to Manhattan North to the Bronx and with the 40 taking lead and then the pursuit going to the 43 they made everyone switch over including the original command robbery squad involved. The reason they switched to citywide 4 i can’t make sense of considering the patrol borough channels sit quiet as day with the exception of select squads in the designated borough.

GLA's has skyrocketed around the city especially in the Bronx and Manhattan north. Even the city put out an announcement on their official notification app recently telling New Yorkers to be aware, specifically Kia and Hyundai owners

I thought the patrol guide banned vehicle pursuits since its so dangerous to pedestrians and traffic but recently I've noticed vehicle pursuit are not being terminated

I’ve noticed specifically if a robbery squad or let’s say a narcotics team at times continuing after perps involved with GLAs, 30s with weapons, and anything with felony stops really. Not sure what caused the shift.

Not sure either, it was a big no-no for as long as I have been scanning. It was always rare to hear vehicle pursuits unless it was related to a 10-13. Highway occasionally had them but once they exited the ramps it would be terminated. I've noticed other cities adopted this protocol as well such as Chicago. But seems like there's a shift these days

The patrol guide doesn’t ban pursuits. It’s worded something to the effect of the crime must outweigh the risks.

Buddy of mine informed me that besides Execs operating over CW4, which by the way back to E today 😂, the F.I.O.s working with the Chief of departments office for citywide operations and crackdowns. Don’t surprise me, and also OCCB-1 has been repurposed for Citywide Transit long time ago, weird why though.

I submitted OCCB-1 to be changed to transit citywide in the database. So it should be updated soon.

Also, someone on openmhz follows this thread cause they quoted me when they updated the name of CW4 there lol
