• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I noticed this summer that the NYS Park Police uses their assigned talk-group of 1008 on the Suffolk County 800 MHz trunked radio system for State Parks such as Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow and Hither Hills. How long has this been taking place? Does anyone have their vehicle identifier list / assignments? I hear cars id'ing like 8L-20, 8L-35, etc.

I also notice that their old VHF repeater system at Jones Beach State Park is still active with units on 159.420 MHz. I assume that cars in Nassau County still utilize the VHF system because they operate outside the capture area of the Suffolk County 800 MHz system. The audio on the VHF system is very low and their power output appears to be less than it used to be.
