Hello fellow scanners. I live in Montgomery County which is covered as you all know by the Troop G division of the NYSP. I currently have in my scanner and monitor the NYSP on

155.445 Very Active
154.680 Very Active
154.665 Very Active
154.695 Sometimes Active
155.550 Very Active
155.370 Very Active
155.475 Sometimes Active
155.565 Not often heard Very Rarely Active

My question is I see that the frequenies 154.920 & 155.625 are listed as statewide Tactical frequencies for the NYSP. I used to have both of them in my scanner, however after having them in for a long period of time and never hearing anything on these 2 frequencies I decided to take them out of my scanner. Can anyone tell me if it is worthwhile to have either or both of these frequencies in my scanner. I'am even considering taking 155.565 out of my scanner for the same reason as the other 2 frequencies I simply dont hear anything on 155.565 often enough to justify it being in my scanner. So in closing can anyone tell me if they hear anything on either of the following NYSP frequencies.

154.920
155.565
155.625

Thank you all in advance for any help you can give me

Only one of those channels should be listed as "statewide tactical."

154.920 is the Troop D information channel and the Troop K car to base channel.

155.625 is the Troop E information channel.

155.565 is "channel 4" in several (all?) Troops.

They are right about 155.565, whenever there is something going on there it is always good stuff to listen to. Its not too active from what I can tell but will hear something on a good day.

KEEP 155.565 in your scanner. It is channel 4 "Tac" (Tactical) in all Troops and a lot of the times is used as a secondary car to car channel.

155.565 a little tip...

When monitoring 155.565 do it CSQ (No PL tone) The frequency is used in different configurations around the state. Some of the details that use it have their own favored PL's. Some use 110.9 and several other PL's. Good frequency to have loaded.

155.565

Thank you all for your help. I have decided that I will not ever put 154.920 and 155.625 mhz in my scanner, however I will be sure to keep 155.565 (csq) in my scanner since all of you have told me that it is a must have in my scanner. I usually monitor most of my frequencies in (csq) unless there is alot of interference from other users. Thank you again everyone for all the help, and have a great thanksgiving.

I was in Saratoga Springs overnight Monday to Tuesday for work and caught both analog and P25 digital traffic (not encrypted) on this frequency. Nothing exciting...just folks looking for each other...maybe to do something excting, but they didn't talk about that.

I was amazed at the number of state troopers I saw in a single day (both on the highway and off).

I caught a lot of unit to unit traffic on 154.665 while driving on I-81 and I-88.
