i'm having the hardest time trying to google this.

really i just want to listen to my friends flight from seattle to hawaii. when they get out of seattle center control i know they switch over to shortwave frequencies but i can't find what frequency that would be.

i see some flights are on "oaklan oceanic" via flightradar24 but that search isn't bringing up anything.

anyone know?

thanks!!

You'll need to be able to hear the flight and/ or VHF controller when the HF frequency is assigned. There are numerous frequencies that can be assigned, depending on the area (route) and HF propagation at the time. It's not like VHF where a certain freq is used for a certain area 24/ 7. They change HF frequency assignments for the route depending on how well each HF frequency is working for that area.

And you won't hear much traffic during the flight, as most comms are satellite/ data oriented.

PS: I forgot to mention, you'll need an SSB capable receiver, as they use Upper Side Band.

Can you hear the ARINC operator on 131.800 ? There is supposed to be a remote transmitter located at KSEA. 131.800 should be the frequency used to assign the HF frequency. Some flights might get it on the ground before they depart ?

The frequencies on those tables of "Pacific HF Assignments" change throughout the day - the table I am looking at now says "valid from....1715Z", these are the evening frequencies.
