I have a new-for-me Uniden BC95XLT. I am trying to obtain a software "key", I have successfully downloaded BC95XLT_SS_v1.0.2.1,exe ... from this page ... Uniden | A World Without Wires

When I click on the link You must purchase a key from http://www.UnidenDirect.com/itemdetail.cfm?item=BC95XLTUASD&tabid=1 to enable full functionality, I receive an error message:
This site can’t be reached www.unidendirect.com took too long to respond.
Try: Checking the connection, Checking the proxy and the firewall, Running Windows Network Diagnostics,
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Am I doing something incorrectly or is there another address?

This might be worth a try.... The my.uniden site where you can register your newer scanners and purchase upgrade keys, also was used to register the older BCD396T and BCD996T to purchase the keys for the UASD software (Uniden Advanced Scanner Director). I looked on that site and they still list the BC95XLT scanner on the Product Registration Page:

You might want to register your scanner there and then see if it gives you a link to get a key for the BC95XLTUASD software.

This is the link for the registration page:

Set up an account there if you don't already have one, and then once you have established an account with a password click the "register a product" link. Let us know if it gives you an option to get that software key!

No. I have tried that repeatedly. I am registered, and I can open up All My Scanners.
When I click on My Downloads and select BC95XLT, this page opens up:

I receive the same message:

Hmmmm. I wonder if they were bought out by somebody and now have a different website link?
Not likely bought out, most likely forgotten.

You are talking about a program that was released in 2006, nearly 2 decades ago. That website was registered in 2004 (per whois)...it was likely forgotten due to it not being a massive source of income for the company. That kind of thing falls off the vine all the time.

You could try customer support, but I wouldn't expect much more than "that scanner is too old, we don't support that".

As was mentioned prior, @Butelsoftware might be better choice for you, I wouldn't waste my time on that unidendirect nonsense.

You can install that software but it'll be in "DEMO" mode.
I'm not sure how much functionality you'll have though.

i have to ask,
what are you trying to do exactly ?
I'm 73, and have Essential Tremor. It's similar to Parkinson's, with the hand shaking, but it's not. It occurs in older people. You don't want to see me try to eat soup with a spoon! :p
Anyway, with my shaky hands and fat fingers, manually trying to input frequencies was a major, almost impossible, chore. The little scanner's buttons were a problem.
Using PC-based software, like ARC95, where I can use BIG keyboard keys, I was able to input the frequencies in the appropriate banks that I wanted. Now, when my USB-serial cable arrives, I can just click on the software and upload the data to my BC95XLT. (y)
