You folks in the USA have no idea just how expensive things become when ordering from the USA.
The exchange rate is a killer (today your $1 USD would cost me $1.36 CAD), plus the Federal Government tacks on a 5% tax and the Provincial (State) government adds on another 7%.
And the shipping fees added on by US vendors are often outrageous! I recently order 8 little plastic things for my car's floor mats. Not available in Canada, they came from New Jersey. They could have been placed in an ordinary envelope. But they were packaged in a tiny box and the postage was $18.50.

As a note, US tourists get unparallelled value for thier money when visiting Canada.
