At the fire yesterday in New Egypt, they were using "OPS 4". Does anybody know what this is? It's not listed in any databases.

I'm guessing you are refering to TG 20608 Fire Zone 4 (West) ??

If so thats the TG for all the stations assigned to that for there ops.

Thats why they refer to it as ops 4.

EDIT: Its not a fireground channel per say but sometimes gets used as such when its not supposed to be.
They realy should use a simplex(talk around) channel for fireground.

I monitored that fire for most of the time they were there, and New Egypt FD was using Fire Zone 4 TG. I don't know if and how they were communicating with the mutual aid units that were there (Burlington County, Jackson Twp., Millstone Twp. and Allentown). I would have thought possibly the New Egypt Conventional Repeater but I didn't hear any activity on it. Maybe they were using some kind of a patch into the Zone 4 TG, if that's possible. The thing is, I don't recall if I heard New Egypt talking to the M/A units or not.

Thanks for the replies, I did hear the traffic on Fire Zone 4. One of my guys at the scene was told they were using OPS 4, which I thought might have been an unknown fireground channel. You're right, they should have gone to FG 1 or 2, OC tends to stay on the trunked system for fireground usage. The chief of Cookstown was coordinating the Burlington units on Burlington TRS NE R-1.
