I was trying to listen to a brush fire near the 241 today. The dispatcher was tell everyone to utilize "OC Access". I have talkgroup 2416, "1A ECC Access Channel" per the database. I didn't hear any traffic on it. A fire unit said they didn't have any luck using it, and the dispatcher told him "there was a frequency change" for that channel.

Anyone have any scoop on this?

(For reference, I have the following in my CC list: 856.7125, 857.4625 (Site 001 Countywide), 868.625, 868.925 (Site 002 South), 868.350, 868.825 (Site 005 Southwest).

OC Access is 151.085Mhz - For Fire, it's typically patched to a trunked talkgroup when non-ORCO assets are called in, or an event is occurring near the border with state or federal lands.

1A is used by fire inspectors to call in their locations during fire alarm testing, nothing exciting. :)

Hmm, I know about 151.085MHz - OC Access - I monitor it regularly; however, I wonder what the dispatcher meant by "frequency change" according to what RadioDaze reported? I am picking up stations using it now so I assume the output frequency didn't change - could the input RF and/or CTCSS input have changed? I am way too far away to test this myself - can only hear (weakly) the 151.085MHz output.

Maybe the fire unit committed the same error I did. I was unaware of the VHF freq. I just punched it in, it's in use, and I'm getting it full-quieting. Thanks for the tip. I'll put it in all my radios.

Originally the fire was dispatched with a tac of Calfire Command 2 because it was in a mutual threat zone however OCFA dispatch was having radio problems so it was switched to OC VHF Access. It's a countywide simulcast channel that has good coverage in the canyons.

Sometimes it is patched to an 800MHz talkgroup depending on the incident. Today it was standalone, heck Control was still issuing sigalerts and testing with other agencies while the fire was in progress.

I have 151.085 up, but can't hear anything in Newport Beach. They are still on 4Foxtrot TG 2800 and Batallion 1 is saying OC Aceess is 10-7.

They were at Windy Ridge UTL.

Its not a repeater. Simply standalone frequency with 6 transmit/receive sites.

Thank you. That must be why ORCO DSP said it "hadn't been activated". I would assume that if they can patch it into a Smartnet Talkgroup, they could have linked it to 4F that they were alreadsy on as well. Their post incident radio checks all worked fine.

I now have 151.085 mHz plugged in and have heard several sigalerts preceeded by tones.

I also wanted to apologize for not realizing that I was replying to a thread from November - I'm new.

Welcome Patrick - No worries about digging up an old thread.

In addition to being patched on-demand with any 800MHz talkgroup, OC Access is also used by neighboring agencies that use VHF to contact Control-1, (Long Beach Fire, Corona PD etc.), the Civil Defense Alerting System (Unit 200-Disneyland, Unit-220- Knotts Berry Farm) and the Irvine Ranch Patrol ("400" units)

OC Access is up and running 24/7, though not always patched to anything.
